KIWANIS INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION HONOR CLUB
KIWANIS INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION
DESIGNATES COLUMBINE HONOR CLUB
The Kiwanis Club of Columbine has been recognized as a Kiwanis International Foundation Honor Club. Honor Club status was created to recognize clubs who have excelled in supporting the Foundation's endowment and Worldwide Service Project, through contributions to the Tablet of Honor and George F. Hixson Fellowship programs. Lt. Governor Dick Lisseveld made the official honor club banner presentation to club president Hazel Kinzer on November 1, 2000. The banner includes the name patches of all Columbine Club Tablet of Honor recipients and George F. Hixson Fellows, along with a master patch for each of these two categories.
Our Tablet of Honor recipient was Lester Johnson. Our George F. Hixson Fellowship members included Frederick Paige*, Betty Paige, Lester Johnson*, Sally Kingman*, Craig Bradbury*, George Kinzer*, Bill Wells*, Hazel Kinzer*, David Hanna, Connie Wilson, Dawn McEwen, Tom McEwen, Betty Pond, Larry Foos, Lee Woodhull, Jennetta Canfield, J. Harding Canfield, Donald Nelson, Patricia Shoup, Constance McLaughlin, Craig Knotwell, Mark Barnes, and Julie Vardas. These 23 contributors represent 1/2 of our club certified membership (45) at the beginning of the 1999 club year. Names above with an * represent "Diamond Level Hixson" members.
As of the beginning of November 2000, 237 clubs have received Honor Club status and this club is one of them. There are 7 Honor Clubs in the Rocky Mountain District and 3 are in Division 9. The other clubs include Alameda-West (Div. 9), Lakewood (Div. 9), South Denver, Denver Tech Center, Longmont, and Rampart Range.
Future Hixson and Tablet recipients in the Columbine Club will have their name patches added to our banner when those awards are presented.
