Lt. Governor's News
ELECTIONS
At the April 18,2002 meeting, Ramona Richers (Kiwanis Club of
Arvada - Jefferson) was elected as Lt Governor - Elect - Designate, to serve
as Lt Governor for the 2003-2004 Kiwanis Year. John Bilby (Kiwanis
Club of Lakeside), the current Lt Governor - Elect will serve as Lt Governor
for the 2002-2003 Kiwanis Year.
KIWANIS INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION
The Kiwanis International Convention will be held this year in
New Orleans, LA June 21-25. Its time to start practicing your
"Y-M-C-A moves" as the Village People will be joining Jay Leno for
Superstar night on Sunday, June 23. Each club is entitled to send two
official delegates to the convention. Official delegate sessions will be
held on Monday and Tuesday, June 24 and 25. Attendees are sure to come
away from this convention enthused about Kiwanis and their participation in
this wonderful organization. Encourage your members to attend. Our
Rocky Mountain District has been assigned to the Sheraton Hotel at 500 Canal
Street, at the edge of the French Quarter. If groups would like to
attend the Superstar Program together, it is essential that these ticket
requests be sent in together.
MEMBERSHIP GROWTH
Each club was assigned a goal of taking in a significant number
of new members this year. 30% of your beginning membership count was the
target number. That means that if your membership was 40 at the
beginning of the year, you are expected to add 30% times 40 = 12 new members.
The easy way is to do this throughout the year - in the example, one new
member each month. Several clubs have added members, but some have not
done so. The longer we go in the year, the more difficult it is going to
be to catch up. If you haven't established a Membership Growth Committee
in your club, I suggest you do so immediately. Jim Haberer is available
to help you evaluate your situation and then determine the best way to find,
induct, and integrate new members into your activities. Let's get going
on this important activity.
